This video is dedicated to what is arguably the greatest dynasty in American football, having just completed the best 5 year run in NFL history as they attempt the first ever three-peat . This project required many different skillsets to complete. It incorporated green screen, 3D modeling, 3D animation, D-list acting skills, volumetric light compositing, asset creation (HDRI creation and texture upgrades on the model), practical effects (costume and props) and musical composition for an original score.
Background on the video theme:
“Why is HOT DOG?!?!” you ask?
The hot dog has become a staple of Chiefs memedom for two main reasons.
1. The Hy-vee commercial:
This commercial by the midwest supermarket chain Hy-Vee. In this commercial, Patrick Mahomes is practicing football throws from his back yard, in what he thinks is the to the east; a direction where there are no houses. His friend informs him that he is actually throwing to the west, which means footballs have been crashing into his neighbor’s yards as they are eating and preparing food. The neighbors’ food is ruined! Patrick buys new groceries and delivers them to his neighbors, apologizing to each family. At the end of the video, he delivers the last groceries and tells his neighbor “Sorry about your hot dogs!”
2. EMAW and the GIF of destiny:
Redditor EMAW is responsible for taking this concept, and turning it into a meme, as he explains in this GIF on Reddit. The hot dogs that the Chiefs hand you represent YOU receiving a LOSS. Sorry ’bout your hot dogs! Having the team endlessly party on a 3D hot-dog airship is a logical evolution of the meme.
Give me a like and subscribe and we will float this airship against every team on our schedule on our way to the NFL’s first 3-Peat. ONTO THE MEME-WARS!!! GO CHIEFS!!!
Special thanks:
EMAW
